(a) For WBFS : Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Science or Engineering of any recognized University or Institute with at least one of the following subjects : Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical), Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology and Environmental Science.
(b) For WBSFS : Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering of any recognized Indian University or Institute with at least one of the following subjects : Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical), Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology and Environmental Science.
Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali [not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali].
Physical Requirements: A candidate must have the following minimum standard of physical fitness.
1) The minimum standard of height and chest girth for a candidate shall be as under:-

Height for the Scheduled Tribes community and races such as Nepali, Garhwali, Gorkha - Male candidates - 152 cm, and for female candidates - 145 cm.
2) Walking Test:- Male candidates shall be required to pass a physical fitness test covering a distance of 25 kilometres, within 4 hours on foot and the female candidates shall be required to cover a distance of 16 kilometres, within 4 hours on foot.
3) Health Certificate:- The candidates shall have to undergo the medical examination to be conducted by a Medical Board. The Medical Board shall issue a health certificate and shall also certify that such candidates are fit to undertake strenuous outdoor work in the Forest Department.
Selection will be done on the basis of Written Examination followed by the Personality Test.
The Examination will be held in two successive parts, viz., (i) Preliminary Examination (Objective-MCQ Type), (ii) Main Examination (Conventional Type-Written).
A number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Preliminary Examination will be allowed admission to the Main Examination and a number of candidates to be selected on the results of the Main Examination (Written) will be called to appear at the Personality Test.
The Preliminary Examination will be held at various centres in Kolkata and in certain other districts in West Bengal tentatively on the 5th August 2018. Only candidates of Kalimpong District & the three hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling District namely Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik and Kurseong will be allowed to appear at Darjeeling centre. The Final Examination will be held in Kolkata in the later part of the same year. The Personality Test will be held thereafter in the office of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal, in Kolkata.

Scheme of Examination -
Preliminary Examination - The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper of “General Studies and Arithmetic”. The question paper will be of an objective type consisting of 200 multiple choice questions. The paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2½ hours duration. The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of a recognized Indian University or Institute. The Preliminary examination is meant to serve as a screening test only for the purpose of selection of candidates for the Main examination.

How to apply
Application Fees - Rs.210/-. SC/ST candidates of West Bengal are not required to pay any fee. No Exemption of fee is available to BC candidates of West Bengal/SC/ST/BC Candidates of Other States.
Modes of Payment and Convenience Fees-
(i) For online payment through debit/credit cards: Convenience fee 1% of the examination fee subject to a minimum of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on convenience fee.
(ii) For online payment through net banking: Convenience fee of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on convenience fee.
(iii) For offline payment through bank counter: Service Charge of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty) only.
