OPSC Recruitment 2018OPSC Recruitment 2018 or Odisha Public Service Commission announced a notification for the posts of Civil Judge for OrissaJudicial Service Department of the State of the Odisha. The total of 43 posts is declared by the Public Service Commission. The details of the posts are given in Advertisement No.08 of 2018/2019. The last date to apply for the posts is 25 October 2018.

Educational Qualification

A Candidate must possess a Degree in Law from a University recognized by law in India & must be practicing as an Advocate in Courts of Civil and/or Criminal Jurisdiction. And it is desirable for the candidates to have a Certificate(s), certifying to be possessing Basic Knowledge of Computer Application / Operation, issued by a Government Institute or other recognized Institute. And also Superintendent or a Ministerial Officer in the High Court or Any Civil or Criminal Court or Assistant Law Officer or Translator of Law.

Selection Process

The Selection of the Candidates is depended on the Three phases process:-

Phase 1:- The Preliminary Examination(Elimination Test):- The Preliminary Examination shall be of 100 Marks, the duration of the exam will be 2 Hours, consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each of 01 Mark with Negative Marking of 0.33 Mark for each Wrong / Multiple Answer. Paper Containing 75 Questions in the Preliminary Examination, will be in the English language, whereas the remaining 25 Questions will be in the Orissa language. Syllabus for the exam is given on the Notification.

Syllabus for the Preliminary Examination is - Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Act, Indian Penal Code, Limitation Act etc.

Note:-Those Candidates who will be secured a minimum of 50% Marks in the Preliminary Examination shall be declared as eligible for being called for Main Written Examination.

Phase 2:-Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type):- The Main Written Examination shall consist of Two Papers, Paper-1(General English), Paper-2 (Procedural Laws, ). The language of Question Paper-I & Question Paper-II of Main Written Examination shall be English. Candidates securing minimum 50% Marks in the Main Written Examination shall be eligible for being called for Viva-voce.

Paper 1:- General English, Paper-2 Procedural Laws and next consists of Optional Papers i.e the Candidate have to choose three papers among these:- Law of Crime and Law of Torts, Personal Law, Law of Property, Law of Contract and Constitution of India.

Phase 3:- Viva-voce (Oral Interview) Test:-The basic objective of the Viva-voce Test is to assess the suitability of the Candidate for the cadre by judging the mental alertness, knowledge of the law, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgment. Candidate must have obtained a minimum of 40% Marks in the Viva-voce Test.

Note:- Final Selection of the candidates is depend on the Aggregate marks obtained in Written tests and viva voice tests. The final list of the candidates will be uploaded on the Official Website.

How to apply

Application fees - A candidate is required to pay a non-refundable and non-adjustable fee of Rs.300/-(Rupees three hundred) only. The fee paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe of Odisha and persons with disability, whose permanent disability is more than 40% are exempted from payment of this fee.

The eligible candidates have to apply online on the official website of OPSC i.e. http://www.opsc.gov.in/.

If you are one of the eligible candidates you can apply for the post using the following steps-

1) Go to the official website of OPSC i.e.http://www.opsc.gov.in/
2) Click on APPLY ONLINE.
3) You will come to the next window.
4) Enter the security code given on the window.
5) Enter your details such as AADHAR NO., NAME etc.
6) Complete the application form and click on SUBMIT.
7) Upload your scanned photograph, signature, and Left-hand Thumb Impression.
8) On successful submission of the online application number, a Unique Registration ID will be displayed on the screen as well as on the top of the application form.
9) Take the print out of the window for the future references.

Candidates who successfully Submit the Online Application form should be ready with the self-attested documents along with the printout of the application form. Following documents need to be sent to the particular address for the purpose of Verification of documents and Should be self-attested.

(i) H.S.C. or equivalent Certificate in support of declaration of age issued by the concerned board/council.
(ii) lntennediate/+2 examination Certificate issued by the concerned board/council.
(iii) Bachelor's Degree of Law Certificate by concerned University.
(iv) Mark-sheets in support of all the semester of L.L.B passed including fail marks, if any, issued by the concerned Board/Council/ University or Institution.
(v) Original Challan Receipt showing examination of payment receipt.
(vi) Two recent passport size photographs (unsigned & unattested) which have been uploaded with Online Application Form.
(vii) Certificates of character from the Principal/Proctor/Dean or Professor in charge of a Department of Teaching of the College or University in which he/she last studied. 
(viii) Caste Certificate by birth in support of claim as S.T. 
(ix) Required Odia Pass Certificate from the competent authority, wherever applicable.
(x) Discharge Certificates issued by the Commanding Officer of the Unit last served. Ex-Servicemen must submit an affidavit undertaking that he has not been appointed against any civil post after retirement from military service, wherever applicable.
(xi) The candidates applying under Sports quota should posses Identity Card issued by Director of Sports, Odisha to this effect. 
(xii) Disability Certificate (indicating the percentage of permanent disability) issued by the concerned Medical Board, wherever applicable.
